Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 888. Which are the first phones to use the new processor

Qualcomm has finally announced its long-awaited high-end chipset for 2021. Even though rumors called it Snapdragon 875, following the tradition of the last few releases, the US manufacturer surprised us and announced it as Snapdragon 888. This is a major upgrade in a few key points, especially in terms of graphics processing, but also when it comes to 5G connectivity. Several partners have already been announced to use this chip, including some of the biggest names in the industry.

Snapdragon 888 will be the basis of high-end phones in 2021

Unfortunately, the full details of the new Snapdragon 888 have not yet been announced. However, the company said it will use a new modem called the X60, built on 5nm architecture, which will consume less power than last year’s X55. It will also use a new AI processor and an improved image processor, which can take photos at 12 megapixels at 120 frames per second. Certainly, this will allow you to record videos in slow motion at higher resolution.

While full details about the new processor will be offered today, December 2, the second day of Qualcomm Tech Summit, we found out which are the first devices confirmed for the integration of Snadpragon 888. This is the next flagship Xiaomi, the model Mi 11, Oppo’s next flagship, the Find X3 model, as well as a new top model from Realme codenamed “Race”: the RMX2202 model.

Other partners confirmed by Qualcomm are LG, OnePlus, Motorola, ASUS and Lenovo. These are companies that traditionally offer high-end smartphones, most of them equipped with Qualcomm processors. It is curious that Samsung is not on this list, although we know for sure next year, the company will announce the Galaxy S21, which will be available again in two variants: with Exynos processor and Snapdragon processor.
