Day 4 of Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial is set to get underway in about 30 minutes. Today we’ll hear from the former President’s lawyers, who have up to 16 hours at their disposal (but over two days, thank goodness) to tell the jury (AKA: the Senators) why Trump should not be convicted on charges he incited an insurrection against the US government.
Per legal briefings, the team is expect to say that the First Amendment protects Trump’s claims of election fraud and his use of the word “fight” nearly 20 times in a speech on the morning of January 6.
Buckle up folks, it’s bound to be another day for the history books.
