Tesla Model S now has a handle instead of a steering wheel, a range of up to 840 km and runs Witcher 3

Tesla has just officially unveiled the new versions of the Model S and Model X, its top cars. They receive a slightly altered exterior design, similar to a facelift, but the interiors have been completely redone, equipped with more screens, better hardware, an unconventional steering wheel and more attractive finishes, which keep the simplistic design for which they are known. these cars. In addition, two new configuration variants appeared in the offer, with a range of up to 840 km.

The new Tesla Model S and X are similar on the outside, but completely modified on the inside

Let’s take them one at a time, though. Tesla Model S and Model X receive a slightly different, more aerodynamic exterior design, with a slightly more stylized front bumper. At first glance there are not many differences, but they appear when you put the old model compared to the new one. However, the big differences appear inside, where these models have completely changed. The inspiration seems to be the Model 3, the cheapest version in the range, launched just a few years ago.

The center screen is now arranged horizontally and is significantly larger, while the steering wheel is now shaped like an airplane sleeve. A similar steering wheel was used on the prototypes of the Cybertruck and Roadster models, but it can be seen from the images that a few things disappear. For example, there are no more wiper and signaling levers.

In their place appears a new screen in the back, in the console in which is integrated the driver’s armrest. This screen can be used by passengers to watch movies and play video games. Tesla cars already run multiple games, but most are simplistic titles, ported from mobile or independent games with 2D graphics. Well, the new Tesla Model S and X are equipped with a GPU as powerful as the one on the PlayStation 5, with a theoretical power of 10 TFLOPS, and the game The Witcher 3 appears in the promotional photos. So you will be able to play one of the best RPGs on one of the most expensive electric cars.

Equipment now includes Plaid and Plaid + with a range of up to 840 km

With this “refresh”, Tesla changes the configurations a little, but also the prices. Model S now starts at 75,000 euros for the Long Range model, with a range of 663 km and a top speed of 250 km / h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.2 seconds. Along with it, however, there are two other completely new configurations:

Plaid, with three electric motors, all-wheel drive and starting price of 99,999 euros, with 0-100 acceleration of 2.1 seconds and 1,020 horsepower. This model has a top speed of 320 km / h and a range of 628 km. However, for an additional 20,000 euros there is also the Plaid + equipment, with equally strong acceleration and top speed, but with a range of 840 km and over 1,100 horsepower.

Tesla says this is the fastest production car ever produced, with a record of less than 9 seconds for a quarter of a mile. The only configuration options for all three models are body color, interior color and rim size. All come with Autopilot as standard equipment, and the upgrade to Full Self-Driving is 6,200 euros per configuration.

In the case of model X, however, there are only two configurations: Long Range at 82,990 euros, with acceleration of 3.9 seconds 0-100 km / h, maximum speed of 250 km / h and range of 580 km and simple Plaid, without “+” . The latter also costs 100,000 euros, just like the Model S, but being a bigger and heavier car, we have 0-100 acceleration of 2.6 seconds and a maximum speed of 262 km / h with a maximum range of 547 km .

Deliveries will begin in September 2021, and Tesla says Cybertruck will go into line production in 2022.
